Returning after a rapturous reception on the UK festival circuit, Birmingham post-hardcore trio &U&I release their long-awaited EP Merci on 2nd October.
“Merci came out the back of a really great festival season last year,” explains lead singer Thom Peckett. “After we played 2000 Trees and ArcTanGent and had such an amazing reception, we felt really guilty that we hadn’t put any music out for people to hear.”
Despite almost four years since their last record, &U&I’s critically acclaimed debut album Light Bearerand unforgettable live performances have kept their dedicated fan base eagerly anticipating their next release.
“We’re immensely proud of the new record as it has been a long time coming and we hope it is enjoyed and received as a genuine ‘thank you’ to people who have stuck with us since &U&I’s inception,” Thom says.
&U&I consists of Thom Peckett, Richard Lee and Robert Wisely, who formed after the split of former underground band Blakfish in 2010. Without losing an inch of Blakfish energy, &U&I showed a progression into a more urgent and rhythmically complex sound.
Since then they have shared bills with65daysofstatic, Maybeshewill, Adebisi Shank and Talons – to name a few.
Merci shows &U&I have only honed and perfected their frantic, high-energy style, presenting a self-assurance born from the development and work of the past four years.
